Mini Baccarat

The rules and game play of mini baccarat are very similar to traditional baccarat, but with enough difference to cause confusion to a novice. The primary differences are the minimum and maximum allowed bets. In addition, most classic games have a dress code, which is absent from mini baccarat.

Unlike traditional baccarat, mini baccarat uses only one house dealer. The house dealer is solely responsible for all the action in a game of mini baccarat. They always act as bank instead of passing the shoe around the table.

Because of the nature of the internet, mini baccarat is the most common form of the game found in online play.

Sequence of Play

  • First players place their bets on the table.
  • The croupier then deals two cards to “player” and two to “bank.” Unlike traditional baccarat, the cards are dealt face-up.
  • Following baccarat drawing rules, the croupier draws third cards, if appropriate.
  • The croupier compares the hand values and declares the winner.
  • Losses are collected and winnings distributed.

Payout Ratios

Payout ratios are the same for mini baccarat as they are for traditional baccarat. Required house commissions for bank bets and tie ratios vary from casino to casino but still fall into a small band.

Bank: 1:1 payout with a required house commission of either four percent or five percent.

Player: 1:1 payout.

Tie: Either 8:1 or 9:1 payout.
